Type 3 Rear Axle Stuff

One of the rear axle hubs was solid on the drive shaft and wouldn't come off. We had to make an extra heavy duty puller to persuade it. We welded two lengths of substantial angle iron together, and used two big bolts through the wheel bolt holes. The middle of the puller just rested on the end of the axle. With the bolts done up very tight, we used a propane torch to heat the axle, then bashed the end with a mallet to free it all up. After several cycles of this treatment, the hub finally came free.
